Department of Community Physiotherapy

Community Physiotherapy is a vital aspect of physiotherapy practice that focuses on delivering healthcare services to individuals and groups within their communities. It emphasizes the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of a wide range of conditions in a community setting, often targeting populations that may have limited access to healthcare facilities. At college, our Community Physiotherapy program is designed to prepare students to work in diverse environments, promoting health, wellness, and physical independence within the community.

Program Objectives

The Community Physiotherapy program aims to:

  • Equip students with the skills needed to assess and treat individuals in various community settings, including homes, schools, workplaces, and community centers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of public health principles, including the promotion of physical activity, prevention of chronic diseases, and management of disability within the community.
  • Foster an understanding of the social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health and access to healthcare services.
  • Encourage the development of communication and advocacy skills to promote health equity and empower communities to take charge of their health.
  • Teach evidence-based strategies for designing and implementing community-based rehabilitation programs.
