Department of Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy

Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy is a specialized area of physiotherapy focused on the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. At college, our Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy program is designed to provide students with the expertise needed to manage conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, heart disease, and post-surgical respiratory complications.

Program Objectives

The Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy program aims to:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems' anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Equip students with the skills to assess and treat patients with a variety of cardiopulmonary conditions.
  • Teach evidence-based interventions to improve respiratory function, enhance cardiovascular health, and promote overall physical well-being.
  • Foster an understanding of the role of physiotherapy in critical care settings, including the management of patients on mechanical ventilation.
  • Promote the development of communication skills and a holistic, patient-centered approach to care.
